Hydrocephalus, and Advances in Treatment
Hydrocephalus can be defined as a disturbance of formation, flow or reabsorption of cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) that leads to an increase in volume of this fluid in the central nervous system(CNS). Significant advances have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric hydrocephalus, and these have enabled such patients to grow up and lead near-normal or normal lives. These include improvements in Surgical Techniques, Shunts and newer Endoscopic minimally invasive treatment. Dr Raj has carried out such surgery successfully. Improvements in techniques have improved treatment results. His experience has been summarised in his Singapore Medical Journal publication in 2013.
